Departure: We embarked on the “3 Lakes, 3 Countries Following the Alpine Patrol” tour organized by Ibusz Travel Agency on May 18, 2024. After two comfortable days on an air-conditioned bus, we returned home on May 20th. During the trip, we visited the most beautiful lakes of Austria, Italy, and Slovenia, enriched with breathtaking landscapes and unforgettable experiences.
Day 1: The Enchantment of Austria
After an early morning departure, we arrived at Lake Wörth, Austria’s largest lake, which is aptly called the Austrian Riviera, passing through Maribor and Graz. We took a short walk in Klagenfurt, the capital of Carinthia, where we admired the masterpieces of Baroque and Art Nouveau architecture and the city’s emblem, the mighty Lindwurm dragon. Then we visited the Pyramidenkogel observation tower, from where a breathtaking panorama opened up to the lake, the mountains, and the surrounding area. At the end of the day, we rested on the peaceful island of Maria Wörth before heading to Kranjska Gora for our accommodation.
Day 2: The Beauty of Italy
After breakfast, we traveled to Lake Jasna, a true paradise for hikers with its crystal-clear water and light sand. Then, following in “Pietro’s footsteps,” we headed to South Tyrol, to the picturesque Lake Braies. Nestled in the embrace of the Dolomites, the lake’s dark green water and the towering peaks around it offered a breathtaking spectacle. We walked along the shore of the lake, visited the filming locations of the Alpine Patrol series, and also visited San Candido, where we admired the gem of Tyrolean Romanesque architecture, the abbey church. We concluded the day in Kranjska Gora.
Day 3: Treasures of Slovenia
On the last day, we traveled to the deep blue Lake Bled, one of Slovenia’s most famous resorts. We walked around the lake, which is a thermal spring-fed tarn, and also took an optional boat trip on Lake Bled. We visited the Baroque Church of the Assumption of Mary, built on an islet in the middle of the lake, where it is said that a wish will come true if you ring the bell three times. We also ascended Bled Castle, from where there was a fantastic view of the lake and the mountains. On our way home, we stopped in Trojane, where we tasted the famous chocolate donuts. We arrived home tired but full of experiences in the late evening hours.
